Position overview. Sunflower Therapeutics is currently recruiting an experienced Product Manager to work cross-functionally with our highly engaging team to support our mission to democratize global protein manufacturing. Sunflower is commercializing “right-sized” and automated bioprocess equipment for manufacturing proteins using microbial expression hosts, beginning with our Daisy PetalTM single-use bioreactor system. Reporting to the CEO, the Product Manager will be responsible for the development of the market entry strategy for the Daisy PetalTM system and lead Sunflower’s sales, marketing and customer engagement efforts for this product and upcoming product portfolios. This individual will actively promote the product in the marketplace, will support the formation of sales and distribution channels, and will establish means of inventory controls and vendor relations to assure a robust supply chain for both the systems and consumables. The Product Manager will serve as the product owner of the Daisy PetalTM system both within Sunflower’s development efforts and externally acting as the product point contact with customers and suppliers. The Product Manager will contribute to product portfolio enhancements by utilizing customer feedback and competitor analysis to make internal recommendations for Sunflower’s ongoing product optimization and pricing strategies. As Sunflower grows, the Product Manager will contribute to the development and deployment of Sunflower’s additional bioprocess equipment portfolios. This individual will be expected to travel regionally and internationally to engage with customers on-site and to present at relevant conferences and trade shows.

 

Responsibilities

  • Owns and manages the product portfolio and works closely with internal and external stakeholders to support successful commercial global market entry
  • Maintains and enhances the product roadmap
  • Develops sales channels (direct and indirect)
  • Ensures supply chain robustness and product availability
  • Engages and cooperates with customers to gather technical and non-technical feedback; plans joint publications or presentations
  • Collaborates with Sunflower’s engineering team to develop system documentation and applications based on customer needs
  • Establishes product promotional materials consistent with Sunflower’s brand strategy (brochures, presentations, application notes)
  • Analyzes market trends and maintains an awareness of competitor activities
  • Supports the construction of budgets and revenue models related to product commercialization and sales
  • Acts as a product advocate to build awareness and understanding with key
    industry stakeholders and customers

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven work experience in product management in the life science equipment field; experience with single-use biomanufacturing equipment preferred
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of the product life cycle, including launch, maintenance, supply assurance, pricing, and product portfolio enhancements
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical engineering, biological engineering, biochemistry, microbiology or equivalent field preferably with experience in sales and marketing
  • Extensive experience with bioprocessing and biomanufacturing technologies, experience with fermentation preferred
  • Ability to travel
  • Willingness to be a hands-on problem solver
